Easter is just around the corner and for many the holidays mark the start of warmer weather and rebirth. The chirps of chicks in their nests, ducklings taking to the water and lambs bounding around almost every farmers field mark the change in weather and spring being well under-way.
Easter is also a hive of activity in Cornwall with many attractions now open for the summer season. We highlight a few must do’s during your stay.
The Railway Children at the Minack Theatre
The world-famous stage at the Minack Theatre hosts a well-loved and iconic family story of and Edwardian family whose lives are turned upside down following the mysterious disappearance of their father.
Forced to leave their privileged London life, Roberta (Bobby), Peter, Phyllis and their move to Three Chimneys Cottage in the country where their forge new friendships, embark on adventures and discover a secret that will affect their lives forever.
Produced by the same team behind the Minack’s highly acclaimed production of Goodnight Mr Tom, the Railway Children’s cast includes a host of Cornish acting talent alongside members of the Minack Youth Theatre.
A must do, with performances running between 3rd April until 14th.
Easter Fun at Eden
The Eden Project run events throughout the year and this Easter is no egg-ception. The Easter Eggstravaganza runs for three weeks, starting 24th March until 15th April.
Their Easter-inspired games include Eggsplore Eden an egg hunt with other activities available with prizes and treats to enjoy.
Easter Fun at Eden is free with admission and fun for all the family.
Easter Egg Hunt at Paradise Park
Paradise Park a great day out for all the family is hosting an Easter Egg hunt suitable for all the family.
Hunt for eggs, either chocolate or with spring hatchlings popping out, there’s plenty for everyone.
The Easter Egg hunt runs throughout the parks grounds with clues along the way, you may even spot some dinosaur eggs! Complete the trail and find the answers to the questions to claim your free mini egg treat.
Easter also sees the beginning of the Eagles of Paradise Display new to the Park for this year allowing you to get up-close to many birds including Macaws, Owls and Eagles!
Paradise Park is only 3 miles or 10 minutes from the Penellen located in Hayle, Cornwall.
Cornwall Spring Flower Show – 7th & 8th April
Named by the Sunday Telegraph as one of the best flower shows to visit in the UK, the event celebrates Cornwall’s rich garden heritage. This popular day out for all the family runs on the 7th & 8th of April at the magnificent grounds of Boconnoc House, an 18th century stately home.
As well as colourful displays of camellias, magnolias, daffodils & rhododendrons of the competitors, the event also hosts dedicated marquees for crafts and children’s activities with floral art and photography competitions being hosted.
Children will love the Reptile and Raptor roadshow animal encounters along with children’s craft activities.
Poldark fans will also enjoy the Cornwall Spring Flower Show as The Boconnoc Estate was used for filming locations for the popular series Poldark with some areas used for the 1993 film The Three Musketeers.
