Waverley Paddle Steamer Visiting Cornwall This Summer

The famous Waverley Paddle Steamer, the last sea-going paddle steamer in the world, will return to Cornwall this summer for a series of special cruises.

Sailing between August 28 and September 1, 2025, the Waverley will visit several ports in the region including Penzance, Falmouth, Fowey, Plymouth, and Dartmouth. This year also sees the return of Torquay to the schedule for the first time since the 1980s.

Waverley’s captain said last year’s visit was a great success, with tickets selling out quickly. Highlights included sailing into Fowey and steaming alongside the Kingswear Castle on the River Dart.

On Saturday, August 30, the ship will arrive in Torquay at 12:30pm and offer an afternoon cruise along the Devon coast. At 3:45pm, it will sail up the River Dart to take part in the Dartmouth Royal Regatta.

On Monday, September 1, Waverley will leave Torquay at 12:15pm and cruise to Weymouth, passing scenic spots like Portland Bill, Durdle Door, and Lulworth Cove.

The Waverley has recently undergone over £1 million of maintenance to keep it in top condition. On board, passengers can enjoy food, drinks, a souvenir shop, and a view of the original steam engine in action.

Tickets and full details are available at waverleyexcursions.co.uk.
